The Rev. Father Alfredo de la Cruz Baldera is the Rector of the la Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in the Dominican Republic. The Father is an academic in the areas of Christian philosophy and anthropology. He has been Rector of the Institute of Diocesan Priests of Schoenstatt for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean; President of the Dominican Association of University Rectors (ADRU) during its 2013-2015 period, and Rector of the Universidad Católica Nordestana.
He entered the Santo Cura Minor Seminary of Ars de La Vega in 1977 and, subsequently, the Santo Tomás de Aquino Major Seminary in Santo Domingo. In 1990 he was ordained a deacon, in Schoenstatt-Vallendar-Germany, and in 1991 he was ordained a priest in the Holy Trinity Parish of Nagua.
In the priestly exercise, he has performed various ecclesiastical functions, which he has alternated with his fruitful academic work. Namely: Parochial Vicar in the Parish Santa Cruz, Cabrera, Nagua; Parish priest of the San Pablo Apóstol Parish, Los Rieles, San Francisco de Macorís; Trainer at the Pontifical Seminary Major Santo Tomás de Aquino, in Santo Domingo; Pastor of the Santa Teresa de Jesús University Parish, UCNE Campus; Assistant Vicar Parroquia San Bartolomé, Gurabo, Santiago; Rector Reggio Getsemani, for Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean of the Institute of Diocesan Priests of Schoenstatt; and Pastor of the Santa Teresa de Jesús University Parish, San Francisco de Macorís.
He obtained his degree in Philosophy at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and a degree in Theology from the Friedrich-Wiehelm University in Bonn, where he also obtained his PhD in Theology, with a focus on Religious Pedagogy. He completed an International Masters in University Management at the University of Alcalá de Henares, Madrid-Spain. The Father is also the author of several publications in the field of higher education and Christian humanism.
